Exposure offers a number of ways to copy certain data into the platform. This is great for large amounts of similar data like same divisions, yearly events or registration settings. This not only saves time during any type of setup it could be a consistent strategy for future setups. Below you will find certain ways to copy data.
Global Event Details and Settings
A nice way for all future events or imports to use the same Settings and Details is to update your Global Settings first. That way event data is already populated when you want to create a new event.
You can also do a Bulk Update from here to all future event instead of doing one event at a time under their Event Settings. Be careful though not to overwrite settings you didn't want to change under the Event Settings.
- Click Settings in side menu
- Select Strategy on how to update future event settings, read blue help box for details
- Click Save button
If you want to fine tune certain settings or details under specific events do so under the Event Settings.
- Click Events in side menu
- Click Event Name
- Click Settings in side menu
- Update specific settings
- Click Save button
Event Details and Settings
An event can be copied to create a new event. This option will copy the event details and event settings, along with other data if desired. Some data is removed like event dates and certifications so please update those before clicking the copy button. Below you will find where to find the copy section on an existing event.
Note: If you want to update a large number of event details and settings then do so from the Global Settings discussed above.
- Click Events in side menu
- Click Event Name where you want to import teams
- Click Copy button in action bar
- Update fields if needed
- Click Save button
Event Teams
Teams don't have a copy section but you can export teams from an existing event and import into a new event. This can copy all team details along with the primary contact. If the Team ID column is not removed and has a value, players and all coaches can be pulled down from the parent team that was copied.
- Click Teams in side menu (or Event or Division Teams section)
- Select Checkboxes by specific teams or none to export all teams
- Click Export button and choose Import Template to download to computer
- Click Events in side menu
- Click Event Name where you want to import teams
- Select Teams in side menu (or Division Teams section)
- Click Import button in actions bar
- Select Type of Default and Browse for file downloaded above
- Click Import button
Note: Review our Team Import article for more information on team importing.
Divisions
A lot of times event operators have the same divisions and prices for all their events. A nice way to save time if events already exist in Exposure but need divisions and prices is to copy from a previous event and do a bulk copy of divisions and prices into one or more events that don't have them. If a division name already exists the copy will be skipped.
- Click Events in side menu
- Click Event Name that has the divisions/prices you want to copy
- Click Divisions in side menu
- Click Copy button in action bar
- Select Type and Events
- Click Save button
Brackets
A lot of times event operators use the same type of bracket or group of brackets they want to reuse for future events. Instead of recreating this bracket or brackets they can copy from a previous division that has them in place.
- Click Events in side menu
- Click Event Name that has the division brackets you want to copy
- Click Divisions in side menu
- Click Division Name that has the brackets you want to copy
- Click Brackets in side menu
- Click Copy button in action bar if you want to copy all brackets or click Bracket Name and click Copy button in action bar
- Select Type, Events, and Divisions
- Click Save button
Note: If any of these brackets have pools, then those pools must be created first in the new division for it to carry over.
Event Schedules
If you want to copy an event schedule from a previous event into a new event then you can do so from the Schedule Grid. There are a number of different options on what you want to copy to or from that event.
- Click Events in side menu
- Click Event Name that has the division brackets you want to copy
- Click Schedule in side menu
- Click Copy button in action bar
- Select Type of Copy To or Copy From
- Click Save button
