Brackets Best Practices

Follow these recommendations when creating brackets:

• Avoid naming brackets with the word “Bracket” at the end.
  
  For example, use U12 Single Elimination instead of U12 Single Elimination Bracket. 
   
• Reuse existing complex brackets whenever possible.
  
  If a bracket has already been created for another event and contains advanced setup or customization, copy the existing bracket into the new division or save it as a template for future use.
   

• Display Winner/Loser placeholders for individual games (unlinked brackets).
  
  If your bracket is not linked and you want Winner and Loser labels displayed above and/or below a game:

  1. Open Bracket Builder
  2. Hover over the game
  3. Click the Gear icon
  4. Enable Top/Bottom Outcome

  This setting is best when updating individual games. If you want to display outcome placeholders across all games and brackets for the public follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to Event Settings
  2. Open the Bracket section
  3. Enable Show Outcome Placeholders

  This setting displays outcome labels for both linked and unlinked games across all brackets.
